So as the 22nd kind of vanashed into travels, the 23rd is making up for it by being reeeeeeally long! We got into BKK around 1am, wandered around the airport, got a true late night snack around 3am, and got in line for our flight at 4:30. Watched some thai animal planet at the gate until the flight was boarding and then experienced the chaos of non-assigned seats.
It was funny to see the sweetest little thai ladies rush the gate like their life depended on it to get a better seat. We just chilled and got a row to ourselves near the middle of the plane and prepared to embark on our last flight for a while (woo hoo!!). I managed to sleep in bursts, and the 1.5 hour flight was gone in a flash. These powernaps would be useful as all of a sudden we were at our final destination, and it was 8 in the morning.
We spent a little time in the airport looking for a hotel, as there were a ton of reasonable ones around the night life as well as the main city of Chaing Mai. After doing some "research" (talking to the tour guide behind the booth, and googling a few places @ the internet cafe), we had our choice and found ourselves walking to a taxi! We got to the hotel around 10am, and could not get into our rooms till around 12:30, but that was ok, as it was just about the perfect amount of time for a spa / massage! This is where the adventure begun.
We looked at the different packages, and eventually Jenny and Jeff decided on the almost 3 hour one, while Abi and I went for the hand + foot + shoulder deal that was around 2 hours. Jeff ran up there a few min's before we did, as we were seeing what last minute discounts we could get. After getting some 15% off coupons, we were on our way! Jeff was already in his room, and then Jenny took off, leaving Abi and I waiting for our rooms, or so we thought.
After a few minutes, the host informed us that our room (emphasis on singular) was ready! Abi tried to ask if we had our own rooms, but this lady was determined, or just didn't quite understand and walked us to our room! We got there and she showed us the room (cozy, with just some beds on the ground), and then she walked us to the shower spa area. She turned on the sauna, and let us know that we could take a shower and the sauna would be ready in a few minutes. And before we knew it, she snuck out leaving us alone in the shower room, which is when Abi and I just lost it and started cracking up at the hilarious / awkwardness of the situation! When we finished laughin, we went in to our respective rooms, changed into towels, and were off to the sauna / massage. I swear that massage was the quickest / most relaxing 2 hours of my life!
When our massage was done, we had a little time before Jeff and Jenny were finished, so we went to grab some food and drinks. Nothing too eventful here, minus a few ants in our Mai Tais, but we were too exhausted / thirsty to care too much :P When Jeff and Jenny returned, we were off to check out our rooms, which are very luxurious for the 25 bucks (US) a night we are paying.
To sum up the next few hours, Jeff and Jenny went off to explore some, whill Abi and I were gonna take a power nap. Jeff and Jenny also returned and I think we all crashed until a few min's ago when Jeff went to town to check on his suit, and I started bloggin. Jenny and Abi are checking out for the night, and Jeff and I just got back, and we are each awake now (10:30pm local time)... so it's time to explore!! More stories, and some pictures, coming soon...
